Brave Annie

Ellis Island (New York Harbor), January 1st, 1892, the largest immigration facility opens its doors to millions of immigrants from the four corners of the world. Annie Moore, a 15-year-old colleen from County Cork (Ireland), and her two younger siblings are the first to cross the threshold in search of a better, fairer life. Today, more than 100 million Americans are descended from those who, like Annie, left behind land and family to chase their dreams. Let us never forget what that means, what that entails.
